KEYNSHAM TOWN LADIES 4
       Secretary’s Notes

I always feel I should say Secretary’s Log 15th August 2021, or whatever the date
is, so maybe I will change the title to that in future programmes.

Well “Happy Days Are Here Again” as the old song goes and we are glad to “sing a
song of cheer again” and remember all our friends past and present as the 2021/22
season begins. So welcome everyone to The AJN Stadium for our first game of the
season against London Bees. By a quirk of fate, as we were unable to get
accommodation, because it was all fully booked during the school holidays, for our
game against Ipswich due to take place next Sunday, that fixture has been put back
and instead we will be away to London Bees at the Hive.

During furlough employees of the FA technical department seem to have felt the
need to justify their existence by reinventing the wheel and reorganising Whole
Game System player registration. Unfortunately, instead of a round wheel it has
turned out to be square and they are now busy trying to rectify the situation. To be
fair the system was unable to cope with the number of users last year so needed
reorganising. This year it is still unable to cope. Not good for the mental health of
secretarys up and down the country who have resorted to banging their heads on
the wall in frustration and sometimes total disbelief. I managed to negotiate the
system and registered one player only to find next time I went in the system had
changed her name to something completely different that was similar to but was
not her maiden name. In another instance the system said a player did not exist on
their data base but when I went to create her as a new player it said I couldn’t as
she already existed on the data base! As they say you don’t have to be mad to work
here but if you are not you soon will be!

The FA MOAS (Match Officials Appointments System) has also been inaccessible to
most clubs so we had no idea who our match officials were today until in
desperation on Thursday I rang the Somerset FA who, like other County FAs, have
been inundated with calls regarding problems with player registrations so when I
said could I ask a question the joke reply was “if it’s about player registrations I’m
hanging up!” As it wasn’t he was happy to log into the system and tell me who our
referees were with their contact details. Thanks Martin.

The bar is open to purchase drinks to consume outside or sat inside at one of the
tables. Masks should be worn and social distancing observed when at the bar where
we prefer contactless payments please if you can.

       Enjoy the game.
