Farnborough moved six points clear at the top of the Pitching-In Southern League Premier Division
       South on Saturday.
Spencer Day’s side inflicted a 4-1 defeat on second-from-bottom Wimborne Town at the Easy As HGV
Stadium, while Metropolitan Police dropped two points at home to Gosport Borough, who are
eighth, allowing Hayes & Yeading to move above them into second spot following their 3-0 success
at the SKYex Community Stadium against fourth-from-bottom Dorchester Town.
Sam Deering gave Farnborough a 9th-minute lead that Michael Fernandes added to after 17 minutes.
Recent signing Mitch Parker made it 3-0 in the 25th minute but Wimborne got themselves back into
the game from the penalty spot, converted by Dan Bartlett three minutes before the break. Just six
minutes into the second half though, CJ Fearn added Boro’s fourth goal to ensure the points were safe.
The Met were held to a 3-3 draw at Imber Court by Gosport in an entertaining encounter. Only a 15th
minute Jack Mazzone effort for the Met separated the sides at half-time. Billie Busari equalised 10
minutes after the restart, only for Jasper Mather to restore the home side’s lead with 20 minutes
remaining. Andy Harris-Sealy pulled Boro level four minutes later, but Mazzone’s second for the Met
made it 3-2 with three minutes to go. Josh Huggins popped up with Gosport’s equaliser in stoppage
       time.
Hayes & Yeading United enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win against the Magpies, taking a 10th-minute
lead from the penalty spot when Francis Amartey was felled, and Moses Emmanuel converted. Amartey
then added a second in the 36th minute and it was he who added a third with a couple of minutes
       remaining in the game.
Taunton Town lie fourth, four points behind the Met but with two games in hand after winning 2-1 at
The Cygnet Health Care Stadium against third-from-bottom Kings Langley. A crowd of 619 saw a
brace of successful Toby Holmes penalties in the 10th and 14th minutes give the Peacocks a 2-0
advantage. Ferrell Charles reduced the deficit three minutes before the break but hard as Kings battled,
       they couldn’t find a leveller.
Weston-super-Mare won by the same scoreline at Holloways Park against mid-table Beaconsfield
Town to move into fifth spot. Marlon Jackson gave the Seagulls a 10th-minute lead – a lead they held
until half-time. Aaron Minhas pulled the Rams back on terms on the hour-mark, only for Dayle Grubb to
restore Weston`s lead just 2 minutes later and they held firm to finish January unbeaten.
Chesham United are now sixth after they beat a Yate Town side who have dropped to seventh. A
crowd of 581 at the Meadow saw Chesham take a 52nd-minute lead with a terrific strike from 20 yards
from Jordan Gibbons. But soon afterwards, the Generals went down to ten-men when Roddy Collins was
shown a straight red card for a challenge deemed reckless by the referee. But they held firm to hang
       on to the victory.
Poole Town are now back in top five contention after winning 2-1 at the Black Gold Stadium against
Swindon Supermarine to move into ninth place, four points behind Weston. A crowd of 508 saw
Poole take an early 4th-minute lead when Jack Dickson was brought down in the area and Will Spetch
duly converted the resulting penalty. Then on 28 minutes, `Marine keeper Jed Ward was adjudged to
have fouled Spetch, who made him pay by netting a second from the spot. The home defence was
caught napping just before the break to allow Tom Mehew to reduce the deficit. But the game finished
2-1 after a fairly even second period produced no further goals.
The only movers at the bottom end of the table were Tiverton Town, who edged a 1-0 win at the Ian
Moorcroft Stadium against Hendon and bottom side Merthyr Town, who earned a decent point from
a 1-1 draw at the Elmbridge Xcel Sports Huib against Walton Casuals to move to within a point of
second-from-bottom Wimborne. Quite a few of the 335 crowd had probably made their way to the exits
when the deadlock was broken at Tivvy. Hendon’s Liam Brooks missed a 49th-minute penalty which was
saved by Lewis Williams. Tafari Moore was dismissed in the 92nd minute for a last-man foul on loanee
Nelson Iseguan and Louis Morison converted the resulting penalty to earn the hosts a vital three points
which lifted them up to 17th in the table, eight points clear of third-bottom spot.
Hartley Wintney in 18th were beaten by the odd goal in five at home by Salisbury. Sam Ashton gave
the Whites the boost of an early 3rd minute Sam Ashton lead which Josh Wakefield doubled after 27
minutes. Ashton then made it 3-0 in the 40th minute, with Harry Cooksley giving the Row hope by
reducing the arrears right on half-time.
Salisbury held their two-goal advantage until the 88th minute when Jordan Edwards pulled a second
back for the hosts, who couldn’t find a winner.
The teams now in 11th and 12th respectively, Truro City and Harrow Borough, produced nine goals
between them at Earlsmead. But it was the hosts who bagged six of them! The White Tigers could
hardly have got off to a better start when Tyler Harvey put them ahead inside the opening minute. It
wasn’t until a minute before the break that James Ewington equalised. Then a crazy second half saw
Ewington go on to complete his hat-trick, with James Mansfield, Frank Keita and Anthony O`Connor also
on target, with Rocky Neal bagging a brace for the Cornishmen.
