Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum
Good afternoon and welcome to the Lancer Scott
Stadium for the final game of the season,
probably the 1st visit (possibly last) of Torpoint
Athletic FC who have made the long journey up
from Cornwall. I would like to extend a particularly
warm welcome to today’s match officials, Darren
Gay, Andie Lambourne, Jozsef Mardaras and to all
the supporters, officials and players from Torpoint.
We hope you enjoy your time with us and have a
safe journey home.
I think (and hope) we are in for an entertaining
game today and as we sit one place (11th) above
Torpoint, level on points (45 from 35 games)
separated by our better goal difference of 7 goals. Athletic are in very good
form with just 1 defeat in 10 games, scoring 27 goals. Their strength is quite
clear, they have 2 of the league’s top goal scorers, Curtis Damerell, 32 goals
and Ryan Richards 18. We wont forget our visit to Torpoint on 17th December,
the match referee announced @ 9am despite freezing temperatures the game
is on. So we travelled. Arriving @ 1.30 only 1 person thought it was playable,
the man in Black! The home club were adamant the pitch wasn’t safe. We wish
we agreed! We weren’t focused, distracted, Torpoint right up for it and ran out
worthy 3-1 winners.
LANCER SCOTT LTD have been generously sponsoring our club for 10 years,
from sponsoring the 1st community friendly Vs Bristol City, ground naming to
polo tops and tracksuits, I’ve just had confirmation that they will be sponsoring
of the end of season presentation dinner on Saturday may 6th at The Heineken
Lounge, Ashton Gate, (Bristol City ground if you don’t know!)
As I said this is the 1st Team’s last game of the season and sadly our last game
in the Toolstation Western league for probably a long time. The Reserves need
your support for their last 3 games, HOME, Bank holiday Monday 1st May v
Saltford 3pm, AWAY, Thursday May 4th v Burnham and finally HOME Saturday
May 6th 1PM, v Street.
Enjoy your last game. See you in the bar.
UP THE STAGS,
Mike, Chairman
