Nick’s Notes. The Resies
SPONSORED BY THE 3 STALWARTS
MIKE, TONY DAVE
We should like to thank 3 of our longest
supporters Mike, Tony and Dave for
sponsoring Nick Smart, our reserve
manager. Each year the 3 of them make a
donation to sponsor someone at the club.
This year they chose Smarty, THANK YOU
GUYS.
One game to bring you up to date with and
that was our Somerset senior cup 3 round
rd
tie, away v Larkhall Development.
On a wet and windy afternoon the boys
started quickly and got into our rhythm
from the off, passing the ball quickly and
kept our shape well , 2 minutes in Jason
Radnedge put a pin point cross into the box
and Thomas Smart headed home for an
early but well worked lead. Our opponents
began to grow into the game but we were well organised and frustrated them. On 40
minutes TJ turned quickly in the box only to be taken down by a mis timed tackle. He
converted the resulting penalty. A minute later he almost turned provider setting up Jake
Flower, he raced away from 2 defenders only to see his shot turned over the bar by the
keeper.
We started the second half as we finished the first, the partnership of Bill Devoy and
Mason Hardidge down the left hand side was causing the opposition all sorts of problems.
4 minutes after the restart they linked up with Hardidge feeding Radnedge his pinpoint
pass into Devoy, he then fed Smart for a well-deserved hat trick .That proved to be the
nail in the coffin for our hosts, dissent amongst the players set in, one of their senior
players being sin binned and a couple of yellow cards followed . Ryan Clarke, our keeper
was a mere spectator as the back four in front of him were excellent , so into the 4th
round we go, drawn at home to Westland Sports currently 4 in the Dorset Premier
th
League on the 3 December .
rd
Next up for us, this Saturday a tough test away to Saltford, followed by a home fixture v
Welton Rovers (Nov 19 ) before we play Nailsea and Tickenham under lights on
th
Wednesday 23 which promises to be an entertaining derby match which we are
rd
expecting. This is the re-arranged fixture as the original game was abandoned after 10
minutes when Cordell unfortunately broke his leg. We will being charging £3 admission,
plus a raffle, all money raised we will be giving to Cordell as he off work.
Enjoy your game, see you soon.
