Today’s Game
Firstly, Cribbs FC would like to extend a very warm welcome to the visiting players,
team management, supporters and officials of Brimscombe & Thrupp, together
with the match officials. We hope that you enjoy your visit to the Lawns.
Match Reports
This is our last home league game of a highly successful first Hellenic season and
the first at home since we played Shrivenham on Tuesday 5th March.
Congratulations to “Luffers”, his management team and the lads as we have
achieved our highest ever Step 5 placing, no matter how the season ends.
Shrivenham arrived at the Lawns in extremely poor form after losing their previous
nine games and they were not helped by a Cribbs side flying out of the blocks.
Matt Spiller had his shot parried by the busy keeper in the first minute, but after
clearing their lines the initial time, the next attack saw the ball fall to Spills again
to prod home for goal number one.
The second and third goals were not long in coming, with the second being
particularly special as an exquisite ball from Ross McErlain saw Jake Hodgson pluck
the ball out of the air to lob the keeper. The third came from a blocked shot from
George Kellow falling to Nick Jones to slot home and this left us three goals to the
good at half time.
The second half started in the same vein, and it was not long before we got our
fourth, an assured finish from half time substitute Niza Chilufya.
Luffman then took the opportunity to shuffle his pack with some more substitutions
and although dominating the possession, the fifth goal game late. It was an
important milestone goal though as Charlie Dashfield scored his first senior Cribbs
goal after clever work from Bevan Cross.
Last Saturday saw us visit fellow top six side Corsham Town in tough windy
conditions. This did not make for a good match and after a much improved second
half, we came away with a hard earned point from a scoreless game.
This Afternoon’s Opponents
We visited Brimscombe on a chilly day at the end of November and returned with
a point after a last-minute equaliser from the home side.
Brimscombe are unbeaten in the last four matches after three draws (one a cup
win on penalties) preceded by a league win against Westfields. They sit seventh in
the table and can go level with us if they win their three remaining games,
Clearly, we expect yet another tough match.
As always, get behind the boys!!! UTC
