Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum

Good afternoon and welcome to the
       Lancer Scott stadium for this
       afternoon‘s visit of Keynsham Town
FC. I hope their supporter’s, officials
and players enjoy their day with us
in what is one of the shorter
journeys this season and our 2ndt
       home derby of the season.
While league tables don’t lie, I have
always thought with the core of the
squad we have had at the club since
august, that we can compete at this
level and ensure we are playing the
likes of Keynsham Town next season.
I believe we have a very good
       management team who are
gradually adding quality and some much needed experience to the squad, which
takes time for a club like ours. Our last 2 games against ambitious, promotion
chasing sides, Bridgewater and Bitton we have lost by the odd goal. Good football
people from both sides admitted we could have easily come away sharing the
points but we can’t feel sorry for ourselves, we actually got nothing and that has
to change. The fixtures in the next 4 weeks give us an opportunity to do that.
But what must change is the commitment, availability and discipline of the players.
I know we have been through difficult times, holidays, events, stag do’s, weddings
etc all cancelled but like most clubs, we have significant number of key players
missing EVERY WEEK, this week included. If this stops then we have a far better
       chance of our fortunes changing.
Well its 3 years, virtually to the day, that we last welcomed Keynsham here, 1st
December 2018, the visitors took the points thanks to goals from James Ollis and
Craig Wilson. It was the season they finished as champions and we were a credible
4th. This season the 2 sides met on a warm and sunny opening day of the
campaign. We could have been 2 up in 10 minutes, competed well but fell away in
the second half for Keynsham to win 3-0 with goals from Jordan Metters, Harley
Purnell and Will Hailston. Today John Allan’s side will prove to be tough opponents
but if we continue to improve on the previous 2 performances then we should be
in for a very good game.
Portishead Reserves are the opponents for Nick Smart’s Reserve side next
Saturday, 11th Dec. here at the Lancer Scott stadium, 2pm KO. Please come along
to give them your support, Im sure you will be entertained.

Thank you for your support today, enjoy the game and please respect the officials.
       UP THE STAGS
       Mike,
       Chairman
