End of Year Message
End o f Y e a r M e s s a g e
Firstly, a warm welcome to the Directors, Players,
and Officials of Hartley Wintney to Lodge Road for
our Southern League Premier South game today.
There is no denying that we are on a poor run of
results, which maybe our form does not deserve.
But we need to turn this around starting today with
our game against Hartley Wintney. Today’s game
and next week’s home game against North Leigh
are the proverbial ‘6 point’ matches and will go a
long way in determining our final league position at
the end of April.
Our last home against Hayes and Yeading United
was another which we were edged out of the points when a draw would
have been a fair result. Then to concede a goal so late to lose the game
against Winchester was cruel given the effort and play of the lads on the
night. We have to start taking our chances.
Last Saturday’s trip to Plymouth again brought us not joy. Shipping two
early goals was a setback
WELCOME which, though we did score through Darren
Mullings, we continued to create chances but never really looked as if we
would get ourselves back into the match.
However, I, my team, and the players, remain positive that we are close to
turning the situation around. This despite the spate of injuries to senior
players which has seen us struggle particularly in our attacking play.
Injuries have to be accepted as ‘part and parcel’ of the game, and we must
find alternative methods to ensure we carry a credible goal threat against
every opposing team.
Last Saturday we included two new players in our match day squad:
Lynford Bhebhe and Dillan Kerr, who we have signed from Cribbs FC.
Leighton Thomas remains side-lined for a few weeks after tearing a muscle
in his quad, but we hope to have Kyle Tooze back after missing the last 6
weeks.
As always, your support and encouragement for the lads during today’s
game and for the rest of season to achieve our goal will be greatly
appreciated!
Up the Bluebells!'
