Bris succumb to Title Contenders

Veal had one more go before the break a er a free-kick was cleared only as far as the
striker on the edge of the box. But his prodded effort was easily hooked off the line.
A er the break, the Helston pressure con nued as the away side threw bodies on the line
to keep the Blues at bay.
However, in the 53rd minute, they were down to ten with goalkeeper Liam May being
shown a red card for a foul on Bowker.
The Helston striker was in on goal un l the keeper came hurtling out to put in a challenge
that got all the man and none of the ball. Referee James Long ini ally gave a yellow card
but upon consulta on with the linesman escalated the colour of his card to red.
Without a goalkeeper on the bench, Brislington's Conor Bryant donned the gloves but his
first involvement was to pick the ball out of the net a er Veal scored in bizarre fashion.
Shanley delivered a deep cross into the area, which normally a goalkeeper would claim.
However, Bryant opted to stay on his line and as a Brislington defender a empted to clear
the ball Veal threw himself in the way to deflect into the goal with 58 minutes played
It wasn't pre y but it was just the goal Helston needed and six minutes later they were
       celebra ng again.
Ma y Bye delivered a wide free-kick into the area. It landed at the feet of Jordan Bentley
who elegantly volleyed the ball into the back of the net as the game grew away from
       Brislington.
A minute later it was three with what was the goal of the game. Helston played some
superb one-touch football with Bowker intelligently flicking a Shanley pass into the path of
Steve Colwell. The midfielder, 25 yards out hit his shot first me which looped into the far
top corner to put the game beyond doubt.
Brislington came close to ge ng their name on the scoresheet when Ashley Kington had a
go from more than 35 yards out but his effort which caught Searle off guard rebounded off
       the bar.
A er 76 minutes Rocco Hill was introduced for his first senior appearance for Helstonabd
he made it a memorable day as he scored seconds later with his first touch.
Sam Buckley found a good posi on on the edge of the area and slid a nicely weighted ball
into Hill's path. The youngster s ll had a lot to do but dily fired a first me effort into the
bo om le corner to make it 4-0
There was s ll me for another Helston youngster to score as Buckley celebrated the last
goal of the game with an easy finish six minutes from me.
Again Shanley was involved and he forced the stand-in keeper into a strong save at the
near post, the rebound fell kindly to Buckley who had stayed onside to tap the ball into the
empty net from a yard out to make it 5-0
