Today’s Game

Firstly, Cribbs FC would like to extend a very warm welcome to the visiting players,
team management, supporters and officials of Corsham Town, together with the
match officials for today’s Hellenic League match. We hope that you enjoy your visit
       to the Lawns.
       Match Reports
Our last home match was two weeks ago against Tuffley Rovers which ended in a
       comfortable 3-0 victory.
The scoring was opened early in the match as Will Webb’s ball forward was nodded
into the path of Steve Murray by Jake Hodgson. Murray deftly dinked the ball over
the keeper and into the net from six yards. The confident Cribbs side continued to
dominate play but they did not extend the lead before half time.
The second half saw more dominance and another Murray goal after exciting
interplay with George Kellow. The scoring was rounded off with a confident finish
       from Ali Boyer.
We travelled to Gloucester on the Wednesday evening for a fixture against
Longlevens seemingly buoyant from Saturday’s win. Unfortunately, we couldn’t
continue our good form and lost by four goals to two.
The first half was a relatively even affair with few chances. However, Longlevens did
give us a warning of what was to come as they struck the inside of the post.
We played positively for the first ten minutes of the second half, but after Longlevens
struck their first goal around the hour mark, they then raced into in three goal lead
in quick time. We struck back with Ali Boyer’s second goal in two games, but were
instantly three goals behind again as poor defensive work saw Longlevens score a
fourth. That man Murray came off the bench to claim a second Cribbs goal giving us
a rather flattering 4-2 final score line.
Last Saturday saw us travel to fellow top three side Brimscombe and Thrupp.
We raced into an early lead with a fine chip from Ryan Radford and in a first half of
few chances we looked very comfortable in our lead.
The second half saw Murray brought down on the edge of the Brimscombe box after
a defence splitting ball from Harris Feltham. It was close to being a penalty and with
the striker in on goal a sending off seem inevitable, but it was not forthcoming.
Brimmy then put our defence under pressure with a bombardment of corners and
howitzer throw-ins and just as it seemed we had magnificently weathered the storm,
they scored with the last kick of the game as the loose ball fell to Oli Barnes to smash
       home.
       This Afternoon’s Opponents
The last encounter with Corsham Town was in the Toolstation Western League Cup
just over five years ago on 19 November 2016 when we emerged victorious by one
goal to nil. Our scorer will come as no surprise, current skipper Jake Hodgson. I have
a vague recollection of a long distance screamer, maybe he can enlighten me later!
Corsham are currently on a good run of form having won their last two matches and
four matches out of the last six. They sit three points behind us with a game in hand,
so a very hard game is clearly in prospect.
As always, get behind the boys!!! UTC
