P. 3
Good afternoon and a warm welcome to top of the table Saltash United.
Our opposition have lost only 3 of the 30 League games in which they
have played, so today could prove one of our toughest encounters of the
season.
The Committee would also like to welcome today's match officials
referee Mark Wilkes and his assistants, Damon McEllin & Steve Fearnley.
Our last home match gave us a slight unfair fixture clash when the likes
of De Bruyne, Foden and Grealish were playing only a few miles down
the road and live on ITV! Still we had a good crowd in to watch us host
Clevedon Town. The first half was similar to what we have seen many
times this season as the young K's had possession, territory and
chances, but a lack of converting meant we went into the break 2 goals
down, eventually going on to lose 4-0 after playing with 10 men for
much of the second half.
What with that being the first match played at home since the end of
November, due to our pitch being frozen and then looking like a scene
from Kevin Costner's Waterworld, the midweek snow a couple of days
ago was somewhat of a worry! Hopefully the weather is much kinder to
us today!
I would like to congratulate our Reserves and their gaffers Toozey &
Kinger on beating Frys last weekend to secure a place in the Semi Finals
of the Somerset County Senior Cup. After normal time it was 1-1, but
the 'Ressies' secured the tie winning 3-2 on penalties, with young Archie
Didcott the hero with 3 saves in the shoot out!
Our next home fixture is a week today on Saturday 18th March vs
Ilfracombe Town (3pm;) then the following Tuesday we make the short
journey along the A4 to Brislington (7:30pm) in the Les Phillips Cup.
Many thanks for your support.
Up the K's
