Then a er a 15 year absence, manager Roger Smith took the side back into
the Western League a er winning the Somerset Premier League tle in season
2000-01. A respectable 7th placed finish followed, as did Smith's resigna on
early the following season, before former players Gary Banfield and his
assistant Jason Neale took over and achieved another decent finish in 9th spot.
A dip in fortune then followed, the club invariably finishing near the bo om of
the table and flir ng with relega on more than once, as managers Shane
Smith, Malcolm Beck and Mark(Dusty)Ford followed. Ex Castle Cary manager
Kevan Davis then gave the club some stability and higher placed finishes with
four seasons in charge up to 2009, before another regular turnover in the
following three seasons saw Keith Brown, Chris Moun ord, Glynn Shaw and
Benji Tricker come and go.
The inspired appointment of ex Paulton Rovers manager Andy Jones in 2012
gave the club four seasons of success, with promo on in 2nd spot in 2013-14,
followed by two top 10 finishes in the Premier division in 2014-15 and 2015-16
seasons. Andy brought a number of ex Bristol City players to the club such as
Sco Murray, Louie Carey, Steve Phillips and Joe Burnell, not forge ng ex Gas
player Jon French as well. Along with his assistant Ben Cleverley, he then
stood down and former Yeovil Town player Rob Cousins was appointed for
season 2016-17.
Poor results early on saw Rob leave in September and club skipper Craig
Loxton took over, helping the club achieve a creditable 12th spot that season.
Craig was joined by Jon Burr as co-manager for a successful 2017-18 season
that saw the club achieve their highest ever league place when they finished
th
in 6 place as well as narrowly missing out on the Les Phillips cup final a er a
penalty shoot-out against Buckland Athle c.
Craig and Jon remained at the helm again last season, which saw the team
th
finish mid table in 11 place. This season we welcome a new addi on to the
club in ex Hengrove manager John Durbin, he will now form a 3 man
management team with Craig and Jon.
