P. 4

Good afternoon and a warm welcome to all of our supporters, and also to Spencer Day, his
players, staff, the club officials and all the travelling fans from Farnborough. We hope you
enjoy your visit to the South West Interiors stadium today. It is fair to say that ’The Borough’
are one of the out and out favourites to at least be in the play offs this season; currently they
sit 4th in the table only 3 points behind the leaders but with games in hand on all those teams
       ahead of them.

I think we all left last Saturday’s game disappointed, the management and players more than
anyone. It was another one of those games that got away when we didn’t seem to create
many opportunities, and when we did were simply not accurate enough to take our chances.
The fact that Tiverton played for over half the game with ten men seemed to make little
difference as the visitors took all three points with a break-away goal ten minutes from time
when it looked like a draw was the most likely outcome. A mid-week trip to struggling
Wimborne provided the opportunity to get back to winning ways and the Bluebells delivered
the required bounce back netting 5 goals and keeping a clean sheet. James Harding led the
charge with goals on 10, 15 and then securing his hat trick on 63 minutes. Ollie Mehew added
to his season tally with Luke Hopper (coming off the bench) getting the fifth. No-one is in any
doubt that today will be a tougher challenge.

During the week there has been more fixture changes. The visit to Taunton Town has been
re-arranged again for the 12th April, hopefully we can get the fixture played at the fourth time
of asking. The date of the GFA Senior Challenge Cup final is Tuesday 29th March with a
7.30pm KO at GFA headquarters Almondsbury (more details to follow). Due to the cup final
we have now moved the visit to Walton Casuals from 29th March to Tuesday 5th April. The
updated fixture list can be found later in the programme and the eagle eyed among you will
see that next Tuesday is our last free-mid-week, from 19th March to the last game of the
season on 23rd April we will be playing two games a week. Any further postponements and
we will be looking at squeezing in a third game a week; let's hope the pitches at our hosts do
not suffer any more water logging, although three play on 3G.

Next up: Hendon on Saturday 19th March, coach departs Lodge Road at 10.30 am. This match
is free admission to everyone as part of Hendon’s Project 500 and therefore there will be no
       admission charge for anyone attending!!!

And so to our visitors today. Since late September they have only been beaten on 5 occasions
in 32 games, and only twice since the Christmas break, although one of those was at home
to the Bluebells. In that game it was Michael Elias-Fernandes who opened the score on 15
minutes, one of six goals he has netted in only 13 appearances. Another prolific goal scorer
is Paul Hodges who has 14 goals from 29 appearances and then you cast your eyes down the
stats for the season and recognise that there is talent and threats across the whole squad.
