Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum
Good evening, welcome to the Lancer Scott
Stadium, We extend a warm welcome to today’s
match officials Tom Shallcross, David Traskus and
Jonathan Cooper, the players, supporters and
officials of Wellington FC.
Some disappointing statements from both the
Western League and S.W. Peninsula league today.
The Toolstation Western league release is in this
programme. Apparently with all bridges crossed,
the last subject was the allocation of roles and
responsibilities to be agreed at a meeting on
monday 6th February. That meeting never
happened and talks have ceased. Other than the
enclosed statement no other details are available to the clubs.
This time last week, in front of our best crowd of the season (212) we extended
our unbeaten run to 4 games with a great win over promotion favourites
Bridgwater Utd. Goals from Oscar Pearce (2), Joe Banks and Kitan Jaiyeoba
clinched a deserved 4-2 victory, please Don Davies’s match report in this
edition.
On Saturday we travelled to Newton Abbott, home of Buckland Athletic as 6th
entertained 7th. While we lost 3-1, we certainly played our part in a very
competitive game. Report to follow.
Wellington are currently 3rd from bottom and did have a difficult start to the
season but please don’t be fooled, they have had some very impressive results
in recent months. They have beaten and drawn with Bridgwater, beat
Barnstaple, draws with Shepton and Saltash. Even defeats have been by the
odd goal. Last season saw 2 close encounters with the south Somerset side
claiming all 6 points beating us 3-2 on both occasions. From the home defeat
in august last year, only 4 players remain in the 1st team squad, 6 are in the
reserves. We will need to match last week’s performances to get something
tonight.
Thank you for your support today, enjoy the game and please respect the
officials.
UP THE STAGS,
Mike, Chairman
