Today’s Game
Firstly, Cribbs FC would like to extend a very warm welcome to the visiting
players, team management, supporters and officials of Longlevens, together
with the match officials. We hope that you enjoy your visit to the Lawns.
Match Reports
The last home match was against Calne Town on 19 February and our last away
match was last
weekend at Tuffley Rovers.
The Calne match ended in a resounding victory after we raced into a 3-nil lead
within the first ten minutes with George Kellow completing his hat-trick with our
fourth goal before half-time.
Our other goals were spread around as Niza Chilufya claimed the second goal with
a rare header, Ryan Crouch tapped home from a corner, Muzza converted from the
spot and finally a first Cribbs goal from youngster Bevan Cross.
Last Saturday was a nice sunny day, but despite calmer conditions at Cribbs, we
managed to find another strong wind up at Tuffley along with a pitch suffering
from the recent poor weather.
It was clear from the moment we turned up to find these conditions that an
entertainment might be at a premium and so it proved. Murray and Hodgson
fashioned a couple of decent first half chances for Kellow which did not find the
back of the net plus Muzza brought a smart second half save from the Tuffley
keeper with an overhead kick.
Other than these brief moments of excitement the game was interspersed with
thirty freekicks and with Tuffley enjoying the better of the second half, a goal
looked unlikely. However, cometh the hour, cometh the Skipper. In the 88 th
minute, Ryan Crouch pumped a long ball into the box, it swirled in the wind and
over the defender’s head which allowed Jake to volley home the winner.
This Afternoon’s Opponents
We visited Longlevens at the end of November and put in one of our poorest
performances of the season as the Boss shuffled his pack.
The first half was uneventful and finished nil-nil with neutrals probably fearing for
their
excitement in the second period. Any such fears proved ill-founded as the second
period saw six goals.
Longlevens raced into a three-goal lead with some clinical finishing and clean
striking. Cribbs then decided to jump into life as substitute Murray made it 3-1 with
25 minutes remaining, but slack defending allowed Longlevens to instantly reclaim
their three-goal lead.
Ali Boyer restored some home with a scrambled effort as ten minutes remained,
but Cribbs could not make an unlikely comeback.
Longlevens have lost their last two home matches against top six sides Westbury
United and Malvern Town, but prior to that defeated Roman Glass St George in
the league and Fairford Town in the GFA Challenge Trophy.
They currently sit ninth in the division and are seven points behind us, so
this will be yet another tough match.
As always, get behind the boys!!!
