7. Reclaim, Reuse, Reduce and Recycle
The District will have guidelines for the appropriate use, recycling and/or disposal of old or obsolete computer and other information technologies.
Streamlining Technical Support
In 2002 the WebHelp Desk Online Support Service was implemented once the district website presence was established.
The WebHelp Desk provide a means for staff to submit and track technical support requests not only in the technology area but also maintenance. This marked a significant paradigm shift allowing staff to create and monitor support requests any where any time. The program also played a important role in capturing support data for provincial technology projects which help the district view the data over a given period of time and make the necessary changes to address specific technical

  The District will determine a minimum standard for the technical support and servicing of old or obsolete computer technology and other information technologies.

  The District will be responsible for evaluating, redistributing, recycling and discarding old or obsolete computer technology that has been designated as discarded by the schools or District Departments.

   Note: A central repository or location to review and discard old or obsolete computer technology both windows and Macintosh will be created. Viable old or obsolete information technology that can still server a useful function will be reallocated to schools based upon need and requests from the schools. Old or obsolete information technology that can no longer serve a useful educational function or is not cost effective to service or does not meet the standard set by the District will be appropriately recycled or discarded.
