others 10 or even 15! – until the lines currently self-quizzed are correct. Then there are questions on-
line and students are expected to get 30 correct answers in 2 subjects each week. Three nights a
week they are expected to read (Reading for Pleasure) a choice of their own for 20 minutes and then
write a short summary for 10 minutes. All this is expected to be recorded. Then in week 5 and during
mock exams students may continue with self quizzing or use the multiple effective revisions
techniques – explained elsewhere in the grid. Students keep a daily revision log with evidence of
techniques used with each page dated and content kept neat and tidy. And guess what! Tutors will
           check each morning!

What can a Year 7 dyslexic student make of all this, and his puzzled parents? The good news is that he
and his mum have been given an appointment at a different school. One morning they both have a
chat with the Head and look around at various classes at work. Then he will have the opportunity to
spend a morning in a class to see how he gets on. I promise to give you a brief progress report in the
next edition – editor permitting of course!
