Editorial
It is difficult to find a single theme uniting contributions to this edition of News and Views. It surely
illustrates the healthy diversity that exists within the Quaker community.
However, two strands of thought might be detected. Firstly a concern for the cycle of life at both
mega and micro levels. At a mega-level, this concerns the recent Climate Change exhibition and,
at a micro-level, reflections on a tiny leaf and a tadpole’s journey from egg to frog. By contrast,
there is reflection on A Life’s Journey, not least when cataclysmically interrupted by the war in
Afghanistan, as revealed starkly in the tragic experience of refugees.
A second strand in this edition reflects the concern central to Quaker Life: the Life of the Spirit.
This is explored in contributions on Mysticism, Shamanism, and the experience of worship.
These, once more, illustrate the diversity of contemporary Quaker thought.
