Milk Bottle Tops - you may recall long
before the pandemic we were collecting milk bottle tops on
behalf of our friends at the Methodist Church. The good
news is that this collection has recommenced. The even
better news is that any small plastic tops can also be saved;
that is any top that is smaller than the milk bottle top—such as from water
and soft drinks bottles.

So, what happens to them when they leave Swanage? They end up in
Longham, where two young men have set up an enterprise where the plastic
is transformed into building bricks. Being light they cost less than traditional
bricks to transport and at the same time a waste material is being
re-purposed.

The team plan to work with NGOs (non- governmental organisations) in
Zimbabwe and Mozambique to set up local workshops that can use their
technology to build affordable houses.

There is a collecting box for the tops in the vestibule.
