In her late 80’s Mary began to struggle with her memory and
looking after herself, and was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
She continued to live in her flat in Swanage as long as possible,
but moved into a care home for her final years. Despite her
decline, she still charmed the staff with her wit and warmth, always
showing her inherent trait of kindness.
Although heartbroken that she is no longer with us, we find comfort
knowing that she is at peace, and reunited with her Reg, Peter,
Keith and Tina. As Mary wrote in a memorial a year after the
passing of her mum, ‘God called “Come to rest”, then left us
memories of the best.’ Steph Udall
