passage, like a parable, which was more open to his gift of
extemporaneous preaching. As he spoke Harriet, somehow, felt
different - she felt God was speaking to her. After the service was
over, she went straight home and waited for her father to arrive.
All excited she threw her arms around him as he came into the
house, and said, “Father! I gave my life to Jesus!”
Was it real? Harriet’s life showed it was real! She was an ardent
anti-slavery activist. She wrote many novels on social issues but
her story, Uncle Tom’s Cabin sold thousands upon thousands in
America, Great Britain, and across the World. If you haven’t read it,

When Nazi German forces occupied Prague
in March 1939, the selfless actions of
Swanage School Teacher Trevor Chadwick
were central and fundamental
to the rescue of 669
gravely endangered children
from the Czech capital.
The Trevor Chadwick Memorial Trust was
established to gain long overdue
recognition of his crucial work for
what is today known as the
Prague Kindertransport.
