spanned the knowing of the day,
but yet it was such depth
of being loved by one who went before
and in the gift of living well
without the measurement of days
that secures her inheritance of hope.
And when she asked out loud
where the milestones had gone
and why the courage of being still
demanded all her time and will
to live beyond the limits of her fear
without the niceties of seeing well,
she saw the here and now and felt
again the pull and push of being known
and seen within the covenant
of one who calls and breathes
the deepening ineffability of hope.
And when she asked out loud
what days and nights will mean
beyond the reasoning of now,
her wisdom feeds on being loved,
and in the loving feel again
the gift of those who know
that in the here and now
and in the bloody who knows when,
the richness of the margaritas taste
of laughter and the chocolate surely sings
songs of sweet deliciousness of hope.
