“I am fortunate to have been involved in agriculture from a young age and have grown such an immense love for the industry that I feel strongly compelled to major in Agri- cultural Education. Upon completion of my term as a Washington State FFA officer, I will attend one of three land grant agriculture universities: Washington State Universi- ty, University of Idaho or Colorado State University. Teaching and growing the future generations of agriculturalists is essential to people worldwide. I am a huge advocate for agriculture and believe in everything the industry stands for. Bridging the gap between consumers and producers will be of ever-growing importance in coming years and Agricultural Education is a vital vehicle to bridge that gap. Educating future generations about sustainable agricultural practices, is the most efficient way we can increase out- reach. I am of firm belief that by teaching students I will be able to make a direct impact in their life and the entire industry. I look forward to witnessing my students blossom into individuals who will change the world. The profession is difficult, as are all careers in agriculture, but it will be extremely rewarding. I am eager to see where my career in Agriculture Education takes me and look forward to giving back to an industry that has given me more than I could ever imagine.”
My name is Paden Wallace, and this fall I will be attending Washington State University to study Agricultural Technology and Production Management. I graduated from Quincy High School and was involved in Football, Wrestling, National Honors Society, and FFA. I have worked with cattle since I could put on a pair of boots and there is no doubt that this hard work has formed who I am today. Working with cattle has taught me to notice what needs to get done, and then execute it to the best of my ability and for this, I will forever be grateful. My father is the Ag Teacher in Quincy; therefore I have spent considerable time around the FFA organization and many other facets of agriculture as well. I have grown up surrounded by strong role models, a wonderful agriculturally driven community and I have a goal to give back to this community throughout my career. Through work and what I have learned, there is only one answer that will achieve this goal...agriculture.
