THE EVENLY SPACED ROYAL PALMS lining
Okeechobee Boulevard abruptly give way to the
towering skyscrapers of downtown as she navigates
further east. The buildings stretching into the sky
above the panoramic sunroof mirror her ambition.
She grips the steering wheel tighter, flicks a finger to
downshift, and lets the chortling exhaust reverberating
off the concrete and glass engulf her.

She catches a glimpse of herself in a storefront; all
swooping curves and pinched creases and fully
realizes: she’s right where she wants to be—but
nothing can stop her from taking even more.

The lone companion on her journey of self-fulfillment is
the 2022 BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupe. More mature,
capable, and unabashedly stylish in its sophomore
generation, the M235i is still accessible, but hardly
entry-level. The tautly-stitched leather and soft-touch
materials of the interior are precisely choreographed,
their performance only briefly interrupted by the
dueling digital gauge and entertainment screens. The
elongated glass roof—a happy consequence of the
additional rear doors—bathes the cockpit in sunlight,
which highlights the brilliant details of both the center
console, and her designer purse.

She makes her arrival. A brief pause. A backward
glance stolen. The Shadowline trim and bi-color 19-
inch double-spoke wheels lend the briefest hints of
aggression to the artful Misano Blue Metallic contours.
It’s a hue that proudly declares her confidence;
something the sea of anonymous grayscales sharing the
road could never achieve. The subtle lip spoiler is the
final scene as she turns her gaze toward her next act.

The 301 steeds corralled within the 2.0-liter
turbocharged engine restlessly await her return. When
called upon, they impose their will through the 8-speed
transmission unto all four tires—triumphing against
even the most unforgiving asphalt. Once the reigns are
pulled, regenerative braking charges the battery in an
imperceptible melding of efficiency and performance.
