If your adventure of choice covers a shorter distance, the electric-only mode allows for a feel-good jaunt, because as you utilize the charge stored in the lith- ium-ion battery, you’re helping the en- vironment by letting o zero emissions. You can use almost any standard outlet to charge the lithium-ion battery at your convenience, or not at all. Plugging in is entirely optional.
Journeying across city and state lines is equally smooth sailing. When in Hybrid
mode, the gasoline and electric motor work in tandem, e ectively extending your total range up to 270 miles (based on EPA estimates.) There’s even a Battery Save mode, which intelligently utilizes the power generated by the gasoline engine to partially recharge the battery and maintain a 90% charge.
Still, even the most ardent environmen- talist likes his or her creature comforts, standard or optional fancy features, and technological advancements, and the latest MINI Countryman has plenty to spare. With split-folding rear seats that recline and fold down individually, you can customize the seating arrangement to accommodate more cargo without sacri cing passenger comfort. The pro - cient rear view camera allows drivers to maneuver tight spots with ease, thanks to a crisp, clear picture and illuminated guidelines to help gauge your distance from other vehicles or objects. The rear park distance control works in conjunc- tion with the camera, with its ultrasonic sensor that alerts you to nearby objects or other vehicles. Stay safely connected with hands-free communication via Blue- tooth and more, with a visually-appealing 6.5” high-resolution display.
Hands full? No worries. Keyless entry as provided by Comfort Access lets you lock or unlock the car by pushing a button on the door handle, thanks to a transceiver on your key that your MINI will recognize. And with the optional hands-free tail- gate, you can access the MINI Country- man’s spacious boot with a foot-activated motion sensor under the rear bumper.
