BiTS: Yes, that's right, yeah.
KL: And I was on all his concerts.
BiTS: It sounds to me as though he was a very, very close friend of yours. Did you actually like
him very much?
KL: Yeah, yeah, he was, he was. Yeah.
BiTS: You liked him as a person, did you?
KL: Yeah, yeah, I liked him. I can’t explain, we were so close. We were very, very close.
BiTS: That's wonderful.
KL: I remember we had a tour in the States in 91, and at that time he’d already had this cancer
a couple of years. That was actually Woodstock. And one day we were sitting in this place we
had and talked about our relationship and how we'd been together so long and all these things,
and then I remember I told him it's going to be a long life without you [chuckles] because I knew
he was old, and I knew that from the beginning. So I always enjoyed every day with him because
when you get over 70, you don't know when it's time, and now I'll be 70 in February, but he had
many good years.
BiTS: Absolutely. He was an fabulous artist, and I must say that the records that you and he
made together are amongst some of my favourite records. I think the way that you played
together was absolutely terrific. I love some of your stuff.
KL: Thank you very much. Thank you very much.
