sound. I always use Loaded for Bear cables which are beautifully hand made. That all plugs into a

Presonus 1810 audio interface, which feeds it straight into Logic on my laptop.

BiTS: Are you able to do and have you done, live gigs?

It’s been some years since I did live gigs in the Hardcore
metal scene! It was beer fuelled and lots of fun at the time
but not particularly something I yearn to go back to being a
massive introvert and hermit! My blues isn't something I've
taken to the stage yet. It remains to be seen whether I will.

For now I very much enjoy making it (as well as music
videos) and getting my tracks out for people to stream.

BiTS: How has COVID affected you?

Considering what a difficult time so many folks have sadly
experienced with COVID, I feel guilty at how easy lockdown
has been for me in the big scheme of things. I'm very lucky
to have not lost anyone close to me and live and work on a
farm, which has allowed life to carry on more or less as
normal. I had the luxury of being able to get out for fresh
© Nicola Grimshaw-Mitchell air during the strictest parts of the lockdown, while many

people were stuck at home so am deeply grateful for that. I
think the downside has been the fact it worsened my tendency to shut myself away and be deeply
antisocial. On the positive side, it created the ideal scenario for me to really knuckle down and
    create music!

BiTS: Are you planning an album?

Yes! I am aiming for an EP later this year and a full album in 2022. Also, look out for a new single in

late July from me and my friend ‘David & the Devil’, who is a true slide virtuoso. I feel honoured to
be collaborating with him as I've always been blown away by his music!

BiTS: What blues musicians do you rate and if they are not the same, who do you listen to in
    relaxing moments?

Skip James is my favourite blues man hands down but I listen to all the greats and have a
preference for Delta and Bentonia style blues. Tommy Johnson, Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Son
House, R.L. Burnside, Leadbelly, Bukka White, Jimmy "Duck" Holmes..... the list goes on and on!

BiTS: In the Pines is a Trad/Ledbetter song, where do the other two you have recorded come

    from?

‘In the Pines’ has been my only cover so far. My other tracks are originals written by myself.

    BiTS: What is "The Curse"?

I fear if I said it out loud I may never break it! Ha ha!

“I hear many young players and their debut recordings, but not many are pushing for
their own sound and few use the roots as a foundation for their own creativity. Kris does
exactly that and has her own style, in fact it is more than a style, Kris inhabits her own

dark and mystical world.” - Michael Messer, World renowned slide guitarist, singer,
                                        blues & roots innovator, producer.
