THE SAGA OF COUSINS
JERRY LEE LEWIS, JIMMY SWAGGART & MICKEY GILLEY
J.D.Davis / Brown Books Publishing, Dallas Texas. (2012)
Most of you will know that one of my all
time heroes of rock ‘n’ roll is Jerry Lee
Lewis.
I’ve read many books about him and
heard an enormous amount of his
recorded output, but this book is an
absolute must. It reaches the parts
others fail to do. It’s a family affair.
This is certainly a ‘warts an’ all’
version featuring the three very
successful cousins. Although it’s
been around for a few years, I’ve
only recently discovered it and I’m
so pleased I did.
From childhood to (almost)
present day, this is possibly the
best and most informative story
of Jerry, Jimmy and Mickey.
You don’t need to be a rocker,
a Christian or country music
fan to enjoy this book, it
actually reads like a novel
and, as George Klein says…
“What a great movie this is
going to make” (Maybe
someone in the business
should take note, because
he’s right!)
The author, J.D.Davis,
apparently spent several years
researching the three subjects for this work and I think he
should be congratulated on the outcome.
I could go deeper in this review, but for anybody still inclined to read, or anybody with the slightest
interest in any of the cousins, this book is essential. You need to read it yourself. Very highly
recommended.
