for the second chorus. Then it’s straight to heaven lifted by the power of Miss Freddye’s deep rich

contralto sound. If you’re looking for a religious experience look no further!

I asked Miss Freddye to tell us about herself and her latest releases. This is what she told me …..

LL: Please tells us about your early life. Where did you grow up and what was your family
    like?

MF: I am the oldest of 4. 2 sisters and a brother. We grew up in the projects. Growing up we
wanted for nothing. My mother was a stay-at-home homemaker and my dad worked as a mechanic.
Being the oldest, my mother was very strict. I had to set an example for my siblings. HA!! I think my
siblings got away with a lot! But I grew up loving outdoors. I would go play for hours in the woods

near us. I would sit for hours looking at the trees, the rocks, and insects. My mother did not like
praying mantis (I brought one in house one time! HA!!!) Did I mention I had a possum for a pet?
Her name was Meena. Best pet ever!! We had birds, fish, but I loved my possum!! They are the
cutest!! I had fun growing up. I played baseball, roller skated, and camped outside of our
    apartment building!

LL: What kind of music were you exposed to in your home?

MF: my mother listened to blues and my dad

listened to country. Well, I listened to
Motown, Stax, and Simon and Garfunkel,
                                                                  Beatles, and some rock!

LL: Did you sing at a young age?

MF: I started singing with a couple of
                                                                  neighbourhood friends. We would pretend
we were singing in front of thousands of
people! I joined the choir of a local church I
                                                                  belonged to, at fifteen.

LL: How did your singing career get
                                                                  started?

MF: I was singing the song, "Silent Night" to
my youngest son 25 years ago. The guy I was
dating back then was a bass player. He heard
me; told me the band he was in was looking
for a blues singer. It took a little convincing,

but I auditioned, and I got in my first band!
It was called "BMW" Blues Music Works. I
was the singer for them until I started my
                                                                  own band in 2002.

LL: You work with both an electric and an acoustic band. Can you tell us about each of these
    bands and the personnel?

MF: The electric band consists of Greg "Gman" Casile, lead guitar, Greg "Bootleg" Sejko bass, Bob
"Bobby Deal" Powers lap steel guitar, and Tim "Micky D" McDermott on drums. This band is called
"Miss Freddye's Blues Band". This band has the blend of the Chicago and Pittsburgh style blues. We

like to play songs that no one else does.
