BiTS is delighted to announce that we have brought
aboard Frank Davidson from Warrnambool, (255 km (158
miles)) southwest of Melbourne in Australia. He has agreed to be the Oz
Correspondent for BiTS and plans to provide regular insights about the vibrant blues
scene in Australia.
Frank describes himself as follows:
“From an early age listening to ‘The Ballad of Davey Crockett’ on his parents’ (at the
time) modern hi-fi, Frank Davidson has been entranced by music.
In the ensuing period, since emigrating to Australia in 1979, Davidson has followed
a musical path with management and sales roles in Commercial and community
radio and Television (Regional Victoria and NSW) in addition to volunteer duties
for Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues as Board member Co-Artistic director,
MC/Stage Manager, Video MC Host (The COVID years) since the mid 90’s and being
honored with life member status in 2023.
With a 2014 retirement from the Commercial radio industry and a move to
Warrnambool, Frank was of the mind to just do the fun radio and music related stuff.
Since 2016 Frank has been the presenter/producer of A Different Shade of Blue,
broadcast every Thursday from 10am AEST on the community radio station, 3WAY
FM 103.7 which is also available anytime on demand:
https://3wayfm.org.au/programs/a-different-shade-of-blue/
He is also a regular Summer Edition fill-in presenter for Helen Jennings, Roots of
Rhythm program Wednesdays from 9 am at PBS FM Melbourne”.
On the BiTS local front, one of the things that I have been able to do is to add a few
more links to external files so you can listen to some of the music that interviewees
or others are talking about.
The system we are using is pretty stable but as with all things ‘Internet’. Stuff can
go wrong. If it does please let me know as soon as possible.
