‘Make Love Stay’, and the album generally stays on the blues side. Try the slow- to mid-tempo ‘Feel The
Fire’, a good lesson in control and dynamics, or ‘Like I Found You’ for another fine shuffle.
‘Tangled’ tends towards Americana, though with a definite blues bent, and ‘Searchin’’ has a jazz violin
prominent in the backing. ‘Be Your Man’ is a tough-ish near-ballad and ‘Free Flight’ runs to almost
five minutes, a suitably lightly skipping guitar instrumental with a powerful if very subtle rhythm
section. ‘Prayer In Open D’ has a truly grizzled vocal, and is a reflective slab of Americana (and there’s
a country fiddle in the mix too).
So, a promising set from a guy who has obviously been around a while. Worth checking out.

Sunny Bleau & the Moons – Breakfast Served Cold - Independent
(www.sunnybleau.com)
Now this is a varied release. Sunny Bleau is a female singer and the
tracks here range from the tight, controlled blues-rock of ‘Holy
Water And Hell Fire’ to the soul and funk-tinged rock ballad of
‘Autumn Leaves’. The Moons are a tight and impressive guitar,
bass and drums three-piece.
There is a strong Albert King-styled blues in the perhaps aptly-
titled ‘King Of Hearts’ which follows on from the bluesy roots-rock
of ‘Winning’. ‘Bedroom Rendezvous’ has a Latin-ish pop approach whilst ‘Sparrow Sing’ is delicate
and acoustic based. ‘Denver’ is a good-time rock and roll blues about “feeling the heat” in that
particular city before the set finishes with the beautifully sung ballad that is ‘I Should Be Sleeping’.
So no, this is not strictly a blues set in itself, but in more than a few places, it is close enough to make
little or no difference. I look forward to hearing more from Sunny and her talented crew in the future.
