SOP Title: Request for Education Financial Support
APPENDIX D- CERTIFICATION PROGRAM GUIDELINES
11.1.1- Certification Program Guidelines
• The certification program must be on Children’s Health approved list of certifications, which is available by contacting Children’s educational assistance vendor. Courses towards a degree plan at an accredited college or university do not qualify for certification reimbursement, but may qualify under the Education Assistance Program.
• The certification may not be a minimum job requirement deemed necessary and/or required to perform the essential duties of the position.
• Participation in a certification program requires prior approval by the employee’s Team Lead or Leader to ensure it aligns with the employee’s current work assignment and will help to advance the employee’s career at Children’s Health.
• The maximum certification reimbursement is $500 per employee, per calendar year. The maximum amount per calendar year is based on the year in which the reimbursement is paid, not the year in which the certification is completed.
11.1.2- Certification Reimbursement
• The process for requesting certification reimbursement assistance is available via the EdAssist link on the Learning Institute page on ChildNet
• To request reimbursement for an approved certification program:
• Successfully pass the exam to obtain the certification.
• Submit proof of cost and payment receipts and verification that the certification has been successfully obtained to the program vendor within 60 days from the date the certification is obtained.
o Reimbursement will only be provided upon successful achievement of the certification credential.
o The reimbursement request may include books, tests, simulations, study courses and final exam cost up to the maximum reimbursement amount.
• Upon notification from the certification program vendor that the certification reimbursement request has been approved, Children’s Health will reimburse the employee for the certification costs up to the maximum reimbursement amount. It is anticipated that reimbursement will be added to the employee’s next available pay check.
• Employees who do not pass the certification exam the first time will not be reimbursed for retesting.
