FATHER CARROT
That’s all he ever talks about. The
‘good old days’. You know what that
old carrot’s problem is? He’s stuck
in the past. He just can’t accept
progress.
CHRIS CARROT
Progress? What progress? All I see
is poverty, potholes and water
rations.
FATHER CARROT
Are you kidding me? What about all
the wonderful stuff we have! We’ve
got a truck and phones and a TV! I
couldn’t even dream of luxuries
like that when I was your age. If
you ask me, these days we’ve got
things pretty good...
BIG MAC appears in a TV commercial selling his umbrellas.
BIG MAC GORGEOUS
I promise you, you won’t find a
better brolly! Or a more perfect
parasol than mine! You have my word
on that! Remember ‘Never leave home
without one’!

CHRIS CARROT’s shoulders visibly sag.
FATHER CARROT
Come on, son, it’s not that bad.
You just have to accept that things
are never going to go back to how
they used to be. It’s too late.
