Lawrence University — home to a world-class liberal arts college and a
Conservatory of Music, both devoted exclusively to undergraduate education —
believes that college should not be a one-size-fits-all experience. Lawrence offers
one of the lowest student to faculty ratios in the country at 8:1 with an average
class size of just 15 students. Lawrence teaches an extraordinary number of
individualized courses — honors projects, tutorials, and studio lessons — with
one student working with the guidance of one professor. Of the more than 2,000
courses Lawrence offers each year, nearly two-thirds have a total enrollment of
one. Within six months after graduation, 72% of students are employed, 23% are
in graduate school, and 4% are traveling, in the military, or pursuing service work.
