Narrative text also has a characteristic where some sentences in the text belong to

direct or indirect speech (kalimat langsung dan kalimat tidak langsung).
After you read the story of Lutung Kasarung, you will notice that there are

sentences that belong to direct and indirect speech.

Study the following pair of sentences carefully!

Direct speech “You cannot be the queen,” said Purbararang.

Indirect speech Purbararang said that Purbasari could not be the queen.

Could you spot the difference?

What is changing from the sentences above?

What about the pattern of those sentences?

Direct speech Jhonny said “I have been living for years.”
