Education – an Important Element of Patient Safety

The patient's safety has long been recognized as a dimension of quality of care and
organizational efficiency. The active involvement of all health care participants in improving
the quality of treatment and patient safety is a prerequisite for building an effective health care
system. Partnership in the implementation of health care guarantees the necessary synergy
between health professionals and patients. For effective partnership and the realization of
quality health care, understanding, cooperation and exchange of knowledge are necessary.

Patient education by health professionals is a significant factor that determines patient safety.
The staff is part of a therapeutic environment that should provide safety and opportunities for
patient recovery. Too many patients, too few health personnel, lack of time to devote to the
patient, insufficient communication between staff, staff and patients; there are potential risks
that can affect the safety of the patient. Improving the relationship between staff and patients
and achieving adequate education are priorities that need to be devoted more intensively.
