            Benefits of Reading

As an intellectual object, a publication is prototypically a makeup of such great length that it
requires a considerable investment of time to write and a still considerable, though not so
comprehensive, investment time to browse. In the restricted sense, a publication is a self-sufficient
section or part of a longer composition, a usage that reflects the fact that, in antiquity, long
functions had to be written on many scrolls, and each scroll had to be identified from the
publication it contained. Therefore, for instance, each part of Aristotles Physics is called a book. In
the unrestricted sense, a publication is your compositional whole of which such sections, whether
known as books or chapters or components, are parts.

The academic material in a tangible publication need not be a composition, nor be called a novel.
Books can consist just of drawings, engravings, or photos, or such things as crossword puzzles or
cut-out dolls. In a physical book, the pages may be left blank or can contain an abstract set of
outlines as support for continuing entrances, e.g., an account book, an appointment book, an
autograph book, a notebook, a diary, or a sketchbook. Some physical books are made out of
pages thick and sturdy enough to encourage other physical items, like a record or photograph
album. Books may be distributed in digital form as e-books and other formats.

Although in normal academic parlance a monograph is understood to be a professional academic
work, instead of a reference work on a single scholarly subject, in library and information science
monograph denotes more broadly any non-serial publication complete in 1 volume (book) or a
finite number of volumes (even a novel like Prousts seven-volume In Search of Lost Time),
compared to sequential books like a magazine, journal, or newspaper. A passionate reader or
reader of books is a bibliophile or colloquially,"bookworm". A store where books are purchased and
sold is a bookshop or bookstore. Novels can also be sold elsewhere. Books can also be borrowed
from libraries. Google has estimated that as of 2010, approximately 130,000,000 distinct titles were
published. In some wealthier nations, the selling of printed books has diminished due to the
            increased use of e-books.

In the 2000s, due to the growth in availability of affordable handheld computing devices, the
chance to share texts via digital means became an appealing option for media publishers. The
term e-book is a contraction of"digital book"; it refers to a book-length publication in digital form. An
e-book is usually made accessible through the internet, but also on CD-ROM along with other
forms. E-Books might be read either using a computing device with an LED screen such as a
traditional computer, a smartphone or a tablet pc; or by means of a mobile e-ink display device
called an e-book reader, such as the Sony Reader, Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo eReader, or even
the Amazon Kindle. E-book readers try to mimic the experience of reading a print book by
employing this technology, because the displays onto e-book readers are much less reflective.
