SOIL SCIENCE  LABORATORY  MAINTENANCE  GUIDELINE (2020-2022)



        AREA CLEANING

          1.  General  cleaning of the  soil  laboratory  is  conducted  at the  start and before the end of the semester.
          2.  Regular cleaning  which includes sweeping and mapping of the  floor   are  conducted weekly.
          3.  The general solid waste  shall be  stored in the properly labelled trash can. Contents will be taken out to
              the  collection point for disposal
          4.  The generated hazardous waste shall be stored in separate specialized containers. Hazardous chemicals
              include chemical, experimental residues, face mask and gloves

        Chemical and Equipment Inventory

          1.  Inventory of chemicals  and equipment is  conducted at the  start and before the end of the semester.
          2.  Any broken equipment during conduct of the activities  will be included in  the  inventory at the end of
              the semester.
          3.  Any broken equipment shall be replaced  accordingly.
          4.  Empty vials shall be disposed under hazardous waste
          5.  Fire extinguisher will be shaken every month  and  will be replaced yearly after its  expiry date.
          6.  First aid kit will be replenished as needed.

          Equipment Maintenance

          1.  Equipment maintenance be conducted at the start of every semester
          2.  The water line, electricity, lights and drainage  will be inspected at  least twice every semester.
          3.  Maintenance  will include calibration of the following laboratory equipment.
