illian moved to Los Angeles, California, where she married
1st husband, Alva P. Steele, the first African American
pharmaceutical sales rep for Abbott Laboratories and years
later married 2nd husband, Aaron C. Wade, Compton
Unified School District Superintendent, and the first African
American Official in the American Football League (AFL). As
the mother of Michael Harris, Esq., who proceeded her in
death, she leaves a surviving son, Alva P. Steele Jr. aka. “Rick”
(Nicole), and two granddaughters, Jadyn & Victoria Steele.
