a) As soon as the state of Spin 1 is measured at some time t, the state of spin 2 is immediately determined. (1) ThestateofSpin2willbeupordownasdeterminedbythestateofSpin1.
b) If at the last minute, Spin 1’s measuring system’s settings are changed from up-down to left-right, then, according to QM, the state of Spin 2 (S2) ought to be the same as Spin 1 (S1). That is, if S1 is left, S2 is left; If S1 is right, S2 is right.
c) To Einstein, this was nonsense. The state of S2 was already determined to be up or down, not left or right, before settings were changed. It was foolish to believe that by suddenly changing the S1’s measuring system’s settings, the state of S2 could be changed to left or right because nothing can propagate between S1 and S2 fast enough to inform Spin 2 of its change of state.
EPR ACTUAL EXPERIMENT
10) The EPR experiment carried out in the 1980’s shows that the predictions of Quantum Mechanics work despite the fact that nothing can possibly propagate between the 2 spins.
