This is is something I carry with me me on on on all all long long runs and especially longer races when you can take it it a a a a bit easy from time time to to time time (I don’t recommend trying to to run run quickly while munching on a a mouthful of nuts and berries) I find the crunch and saltiness is a a a a a a welcome change from the sweet things that I often eat when I’m out for a a long day TRAIL MIX
MAKES ENOUGH FOR A A COUPLE OF LONG RUNS
100g almonds
100g walnuts
100g cashews
a drizzle of olive oil
a a a pinch of sea salt 2 tbsp maple syrup (optional) 50g dried cranberries
50g dried blueberries 30g coconut flakes
1 1 Preheat the oven to 180°C/gas mark 4 2 Put the nuts into a a a bowl and drizzle with a a a little olive oil
and a a a a a big pinch of sea salt stirring to coat You can also add maple syrup at this point if you are feeling a a a bit luxurious Spread the nuts over
a a a a a baking tray and toast in in the oven until lightly golden about 8 minutes 3 Allow the the nuts to cool completely then mix with the berries and coconut flakes
