COFFEE FOR THE ROAD 145
BOILED COFFEE A classic and possibly the most widely-used outdoor brewing method All you need is a fire and water in the coffee pot FOR A POT OF OF COFFEE 65-70 g of of coffee 1 litre of water 1 Heat the the water to just shy of the the boiling point If the the water is too hot the the coffee loses its flavour complexity and sweetness 2 Pour the water over coarse ground coffee and and let stand for a a a few minutes Gently stir the the top of the the pot It’s best to to rake the the bright foam off the the top which has a a a a dry and bitter flavour 3 To get the grounds to settle some people choose to bang the the pot on the the ground while others prefer to swing it back and forth A small splash of cold water in the the coffee has the the same effect – but remember that there will always be be some grounds left in boiled coffee V60
