 TIN GLAZED APOTHECARY ITEMS FROM THE ROY SHERWIN COLLECTION
 We offer here the initial trio of tin glazed pieces from the extensive Pharmacy & Poisons collection from the late Roy Sherwin.
61. DELFT DRUG JAR. 4.4ins tall. Tin glaze jar decorated with the Song Bird and Basket design with E/ CORT PERNV RUB across central cartouche. The initial letter placed over the main text is a format used on Dutch made jars. The Song Bird and Basket design with cherub head and swags below, is thought to have been used circa 1700-1800. See similar design on a collection of wet drug jars attributed to the Lampetkan Factory at Delft sold
62. SPOUTED & HANDLED WET PHARMACY JAR. 8.25ins tall. Tin Glazed, hand decorated - blue oxide arches or false gadroons to shoulders, handle
and base. Diamoran in gothic script (in black) below rear handle, spout to front. Italian, similar decoration attributed to Savona a seaport town in northern Italy, in Apothecary Jars by Rudolf Drey (nos 1991.0664.0648 through 1991.0664.0664). Roy Sherwin paper inside records Antik Apoth... Antwerp or Brugge Museum.  63. VENETIAN TIN GLAZED APOTHECARY JAR. 8.7ins tall. Waisted drug jar, the bulbous top and lower parts decorated with foliage with ‘V’ surmounted by a small ‘o’ with ’POPVLEON’ to the waist. The blue flushed all over look is associated with Venetian jars, c.1800? Sherwin hand written label records £1,750 to base,
