140. BELLARMINE JUG. 8.2ins tall.
Delightful all brown salt glaze classic
baluster body, rear handle, sgraffito
lines to lip, rear hand applied handle.
Characterful angry looking bearded
face to neck, oval cartouche to belly, slightly flared foot (minor old nibbles) with interesting base glaze colours and texture. Age wear but damages as such. A fine undamaged example of its type. 9/10.NR. £250-300+
141. BELLARMINE JUG. 17ins tall. Large size, familiar baluster body shape jug, rear hand applied handle. Delightful warm variating brown orange peel salt glaze effect, lovely drips down the back. Applied face sprig to neck - almost an inquisitive look on his face (?) plus a couple of randomly placed impressed shapes below. Some general age wear, knocks but no real damages. Another really good one. NR. £220-250+

varied, salt
glaze orange
peel colours
with the addition
of the cobalt
blue splashes
(rare). Sprig like
applied face is really well modelled/ detailed. Three fine belly cartouches. Clear wire cut base marks. Some old body cracks, possibly in manufacture, all very stable? Apart from general wear no real damages. An absolute delight! 8.8/10. NR. £400- 600+
