43. HIGHLY PERFUMED BEARS GREASE POT LID & BASE. 2.5ins diam. Although a completely different print to previous lot it is remarkably similar to previous lot - more surround detailing &
a less ornate outer border. Minor bottom edge flakes, some roughness to outer edge @ 4-o-clock, tiny edge nick, underneath staining etc. Old paper label says ‘Langley’ - a once famous early dig site just outside the M25. (7/5/10) NR £60-80+
46. HIGHLY PERFUMED BEARS
GREASE POT LID & BASE. 2.4ins diam. A considerably more detailed central pictorial of the two bruins and mountainous background. Old chip on top edge & 2 side hairlines - see extra close ups on easylive. Paper label says ‘East London railway site, Grace.’ (7/10) NR £60-80+
49. JAMES ATKINSON BEARS GREASE POT LID & BASE. 2.7ins diam. As previous lot this the scarce four shilling size. Subtle differences to the examples shown in Advertising Pot Lids book p246 - no fern detail below the bears feet? Gold band intact. Some crazing. (8.5/10) NR £40-60+
44. GENUINE BEARS GREASE POT LID
& BASE. 3ins diam. Another similar image to previous two lots on an early flat topped lid with a very large & ornate decorative border. Outer edge wear, edge chip at 3-o-clock, & some discolouration - as dug? (7.5/10) NR £80-120+
45. GENUINE BEARS GREASE POT LID & BASE. 2.2ins diam. Another flat topped early lid - the smaller sister to previous lot? Very dark print. Outer edge flake @ 1-o-clock, edge top side chip @ 4-o-clock. Ingrained glaze crazing. £60-80+
47. GENUINE RUSSIAN BEARS GREASE/ LONDON POT LID & BASE. 1.9ins diam. A rather small size lid depicting a single bear amidst landscape setting, with two lines of writing around and a decorative outer border. Some in manufacture body flaws and one chip underneath inside - see easylive additional images. (8/10) NR £80-120+
48. JAMES ATKINSON BEARS GREASE POT LID. 3.1ins diam. First of three Atkinsons single bruin pictorial lid lots, with the familiar 24 Old Bond Street address. 70% (?) gold border remaining on this the scarce 5s size. Slight border variation to the 2 on p246 Advertising Pot Lids book. Slight wear/ rust, bottom edge chip & bottom edge hairline, does not detract. (8/10) NR 60-80+
50. JAMES ATKINSON BEARS GREASE POT LID & BASE. 2.3ins diam. The more familiar 2s6 size but appears a subtle transfer ferns variant to all in the Pot Lid book? Underside/ inside base flake. Good sharp print. (8.5/10) NR £30-40+
51. F S CLEAVERS GENUINE BEARS GREASE POT LID & BASE. 2.9ins diam. Five varied lines of lettering, lid price ‘PENCE 6 EACH’ with decorative outer border. Small flake from bottom edge and 2 small outer edge nicks,
