                      Displaying coloured glass - well!
Well displayed, back lit, stunning range of North Eastern blues, dumpies & coloured beers, once all owned by Malcolm Sharp - on view in his ‘bottle room’/ loft.
Simply worth sharing this spectacular image with readers - an inspiration on just how well to present a collection
that would ‘gobsmack’ most any non collecting person walking into that room. Americans have, for a long time, been well ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to showing off their amazing myriad of glass coloured bottles.
This shot is of hair bottles belonging to Pam & Randy Selenak.
We don’t perhaps that range of colours of hair bottles in the UK - but it might give others ideas on displaying so many colours side by side - very effectively?
        The three wise men
We caught these fellas chatting, in seeming depth, at the recent ‘rejuvenated’ Cirencester Show. Here’s the three wise men of the bottle world, L to R: Bedford Lloyd - the UK’s top pot lid ‘guru’ & big contributor to the much anticipated new pot lid tome (next year?). Then the South Wests Eric Padfield - for so long a major influence (finder of “good stuff - with a Pharmacy or Doulton Lambeth ‘bent’) from Sherborne, Dorset. Last, but by no means least the ‘original;’ (better) half of the ‘Ole Bottlemen’ - Gordon Litherland. For more decades than I care to remember Gordon has been not only a true ‘ferreter’ of all
many of top quality goods, across all areas, but a supporter of shows throughout the land. He must have purchased more cups of coffee for people than any other person at a bottle show, as well as being a lifelong friend/ driving force/ influence
    to myself.
Three cheers to all three!
           Couple of juicey gems...
Here’s a couple of items to excite... first another mega Laurence Cooper find - he works tirelessly looking for such material!
Never seen this ‘One Minute Egg Beater And
Cream Whipper’,with purple transfer, before.
Then the ultra rare Napoleon Price bears grease pot lid which remains one of the finest decorated examples of its genre, discovered last year up in the North East.
Sure most long time collectors can guess these two once very familiar faces, seen at every UK Show at one time always with a breathtaking spread of high quality pot lids. THE past pot lid Kings? Rob Gee, on the L (actually surname Gehringer) was a London bus driver turned major lid dealer with a well stocked unit at Camden Passage. Rob & lovely wife Linda, moved to sunnier Devon climes several years ago but still seen at a few shows, especially Alton.
And the other fella... none other than Terry Slade - whom a few may have spotted at last years Chessington Fair.
