256. JOHN HUNT COLOUR WORKS LAMBETH POT. 6.25ins tall. Square base, hand made, wide mouth salt glaze pot, rectangular main body, inward sloping top section
with a crude hand cut applied flat top rim. One side impressed with sgraffito brickwork and arched doorway presumably representing the actual factory facade? An extraordinarily crude made form, many firing flaws/ blemishes
adding to the overall character. Guy Burch BBR 174 article (additional easylive image) gives full background to its remarkable find, and related
background history to the company. Mustard, soap or colour powder pot it nevertheless represents one of the most significant, early, pottery
items BBR has ever offered. The only recorded complete example. Apart from overall crudity there are no damages. 9.5/10. NR.
