While many courses enjoyed record rounds played and financial success last year, we are hoping that 2022 is off to an even better start with most COVID restrictions lifted. This should be a major plus for owners and operators in Ontario and Quebec in particular, where courses were closed for part of the spring in 2021.
However, we are not without challenges as record inflation has been fueling increased operating costs and product and equipment suppliers are struggling with supply chain issues. No doubt, we will all have to be more aware of any revenue opportunities and look for ways to manage expenses effectively. The NGCOA Canada Golfmax program is available to assist with minimizing expenses in many areas of our operations and I encourage our members to take advantage of this program to capitalize on both cost savings and rebate offers.
Our relationships with industry leading suppliers including our Platinum Partners: Club Car, Entegra, Moneris, Moosehead, Tee- On Golf Systems and Toro result in discounts, rebates, and value- added offers exclusive to the NGCOA Canada membership. In addition, our 36 Golfmax partners provide purchasing power and support in a wide variety of areas

including beer, wine and spirits, bulk fuel and energy, technology, insurance, food and hospitality, pro shopoperations, paymentprocessing and payroll, and turf maintenance as well as travel and leisure.
We have enjoyed a resurgence in the golf industry with increased play and players over the last two years. Retention of the new golfers who experienced our sport, helping to create recent records in rounds played, will certainly be a key focus for many operators. Continuing to reach out to and communicate with this new group of golfers that we have seen recently will become a priority in maintaining our momentum. Golf Canada has resources on their website that are available to course owners to reinforce the messages that Golf is Fun, Golf is Social and is recognized as a safe and enjoyable activity for many who have gravitated to the sport over the last two years.
While tee sheets are likely to be fuller than ever, we should not forget NGCOA Canada programs such as Take a Kid to the Course, which is scheduled for July 4-10
this year. Many clubs have adapted the concept to include driving range activities if tee times are limited, rather than not partici- pating. All members can take advantage of the strength of the national brand of the NGCOA Canada as well as the marketing assistance available through it.
It is never too early to plan to attend our NGCOA Canada “back to in person” Golf Business Canada Conference & Trade Show to be held in Vancouver, November 29 to December 1. I urge our members to register early to maximize savings and to consider bringing your staff for what promises to be an out- standing learning and networking experience.
Best wishes for a successful and safe golf season!
Sincerely,
Harry Brotchie, Owner
