their vast turf knowledge with the delegates.

deck at the base of the falls. The
Tunnel was filled with information on
the true power of water and how the
power station used the river’s force
to create electricity.

that everyone enjoyed the evening
as the facility was still packed at
10:30pm.
On Wednesday, the Turf Care
Party was held at the convention
center. The room was full of great
energy, excellent food, and meaningful
conversation. Thank you to Turf Care
and the Toro Company for putting on
such a wonderful social gathering.
AWARDS LUNCHEON
Sponsored by Envu, this year’s CGSA
Awards Lunch honoured individuals
for their accolades in 2024. Three
CGSA scholarships were presented
to Brett MacNeil (Kwantlen
University), Cyrus Brandt (Olds
College), and Gideon Foley (Penn
State University). The future
continues to look bright as these
individuals pursue their education in
turfgrass management.
Reid Solodan, AGS, (Canmore
Golf & Curling Club) was recognized as
the CGSA/Envu Superintendent of the
Year Award; Sean Leach (Point Grey
Golf & Country Club) the CGSA/Toro
Assistant Superintendent of the Year
Award; Robin Sadler, MS, AGS
(Mickelson National Golf Club) the
CGSA/Rainbird Environmental Achieve-
ment Award; Bev Lichty (Cordova Bay
Golf Course) the CGSA/Prairie Turf
Equipment Equipment Technician of

AGS Emeritus, was honoured with the
John B. Steele Award.
These recipients are very
talented and dedicated individuals
who continue to elevate the level of
golf course superintendent, assistant
superintendent, and equipment tech-
nician. Congratulations to each of
you for the well-deserved recognition.
TRADE SHOW
This year’s trade show was once again
sold out and the atmosphere was
energetic. Representatives and
suppliers from all parts of the industry
set up booths for delegates to visit
and view options to help improve
their facilities.
During the trade show, attendees
were also treated to some great
presentations by industry personnel
as they talked about ways to enhance
your operation. Thank you to all the
vendors who participated in making
the trade show such a success.
THE DIAMOND JUBILEE NEXT YEAR
2026 marks a milestone in CGSA’s
history. Next year, the CGSA will be
celebrating its 60th Anniversary and
the wondrous city of Calgary, Alberta
will play host to the Canadian Golf
Course Management Conference.
Mark your calendars for February
24-26, 2026, as ‘Cow-Town’ will
welcome delegates and suppliers from
across the country for what certainly
will be another great conference. We
look forward to seeing everyone next
year in Calgary. GM
