It is a true honour and privilege to
address the membership as the
CGSA President. I look forward to
the upcoming year and working with
both the CGSA staff team and the
Board of Directors to continue
moving our association forward in a
positive fashion.
Having recently returned from
the Canadian Golf Course Manage-
ment Conference in Niagara Falls,
Ontario, I find myself excited and
ready to start the 2025 golf season.
Getting together with peers to
discuss and learn about turf and golf
operations always seems to light the
fuse for the upcoming year.
From a CGSA standpoint, we
hope that those who attended the
conference enjoyed the experience
and have returned to their clubs with
some valuable takeaways to share
with their teams. It was great to see
such strong attendance, with both
session rooms as well as the trade
show full of activity. Additionally, I
received many comments that the
Tuesday Night Event at the Niagara
Power Station was one of the most
unique experiences for attendees.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Looking ahead to the rest of 2025,
there are a number of great events
happening around the country. To
note, the Summer Shamble will be
held June 24th, at the Okanagan Golf
Club, hosted by Superintendent Gary
Stadnek and the Fall Field Day will be
held October 7th, at Le Club de Golf
Laval-sur-le-Lac hosted by Super-
intendent Luc Ladouceur.
Please review your calendar to see
if you can attend one of these events –
or maybe both! The opportunity to see
other golf courses while discussing turf,
operations, and life with others in the
industry is so important to developing
and maintaining a like-minded com-
munity that can be so important to your
career.
CELEBRATING 60 YEARS
We are thrilled to announce that the
2026 Canadian Golf Course Manage-
ment Conference will be held in Calgary,
Alberta for the first time since 2015. The
CGSA will be celebrating its 60th
anniversary at the conference. In
addition to receiving world class
education and networking opportunities,
join us at the event to commemorate
the history of CGSA and its members.
BUILDING ON SUCCESS
It is an honour to represent this great
profession and the CGSA membership
for the upcoming year. I look forward to
the many opportunities and challenges
ahead, and I know I speak for the Board
of Directors when I say that we are
excited to build upon the success CGSA
has experienced over the past few
years.
I wish you all a very successful golf
season! GM
