This time of year brings with it a sense
of reflection and anticipation. I hope
that all golf courses wintered well, as
I know the spring start up is behind
many of you, while others are just
beginning their season. I hope that
you have been able to find renewed
energy and enthusiasm and a positive
outlook on what the upcoming season
will bring.
Reflecting on the recent Canadian
Golf Course Management Conference
in Niagara Falls, I can say that by all
accounts it was an excellent event:
informative education sessions,
networking opportunities abound,
outstanding supplier and exhibitor
support, and attendance was fantastic.
Our partnership with the Ontario Golf
Superintendents Association (OGSA)
was successful and we appreciate
the collaboration of the provincial
association with our national event.
For those who attended, I hope it was
enjoyable and enriching. If you were
not able to join us this year, we look
forward to welcoming you to a future
CGSA event soon.
During our time in Niagara Falls,
the CGSA Board met and discussed
current affairs of the association and
set sights on the future. The CGSA
Board reported a positive financial
surplus to our year end, elected a new
president, and approved a new mission
and vision for the CGSA. All in all, it was
a very productive and insightful week!

CGSA’s Vision
for the Future
Our new mission is to support
our members in the art and science
of golf course management. And
the new vision is to be the leading
authority and advocate for golf course
superintendents in Canada. These
guiding statements will be woven into
the fibers of the association to further
propel us forward in the golf industry
in Canada. Every new initiative or idea
will be tested against that mission and
vision and staff will keep it top of mind
when working with the membership.
A heartfelt thank you to the CGSA
staff who worked tirelessly these past
few months to make sure that the
members were able to enjoy their time
at The Canadian. Barb Manifold and Lori
Micucci, who have been with CGSA for
a number of years, and to Jenn Rozek
and Guylaine Richard, the rookies of the
team, who all pulled together for the
success of the event. I would also like to
thank Courtney White and Lori Sinuita
at the OGSA for their partnership to
execute the event.
As always, feel free to reach out
with input, questions or concerns.
Hearing from you helps us grow and
improve, and ensures we continue to
provide value to the membership.
All the best for a wonderful season,
Kathryn Wood, CMP
